As a condition of sport funding from the Government of Alberta, all provincial sport organizations (including Curling Alberta) must implement a system for reporting and addressing serious safe sport concerns. Effective May 25, 2026, Curling Alberta is joining the Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism (ABSSCM), an independent, province-wide system for reporting and addressing serious safe sport concerns such as abuse, harassment, and maltreatment.
What this means for our club: Our club continues to operate as usual. Participants (athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, parents) now have access to an independent reporting system. Reports are handled by trained professionals through a third party (ALIAS Solutions Inc.), not by our club or Curling Alberta.
What Our Club Needs to Do: Use Updated Participant Waivers. Effective May 25, 2026, BCC has added the new Adult and Youth waivers and ensure participant consent is captured at registration.
